Our Story

Whether you’re visiting for a baseball tournament, exploring the Village of Cooperstown, or a local looking for your go-to spot, Mel's at 22 in Cooperstown, NY  offers a full menu of freshly prepared dishes, seasonal specials, and handcrafted drinks.

Founded in 2014 by chef and restaurateur Brian Wrubleski, Mel’s at 22 is a family-owned restaurant. The restaurant is named in loving memory of Brian’s wife, Maryellen, who passed away in December 2013. Maryellen was Brian’s biggest supporter and always believed in his passion for cooking, hospitality, and bringing people together through food.

With more than 30 years of experience in the culinary industry, Brian spent several years searching for the right opportunity to open a restaurant in Cooperstown. The opening of Mel’s at 22 brought renewed hope and purpose.

Today, Mel’s at 22 is proudly operated with the help of Brian’s family. At Mel’s at 22, our mission is simple: to create a fun and friendly environment where family and friends can gather and enjoy great food.
